His Excellency Ambassador Clemente Camenha Presented These Credentials To His Excellencymohamed Muizzu, President Of The Republic Of Maldives

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of India, Clemente Camenha, was on Monday 29 July accredited by His Excellency Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Angola in that Asian country, with the status of non-resident.

On the sidelines of the accreditation ceremony, the Angolan diplomat met with the President of the Maldives, to whom he passed on a verbal message from the President of the Republic of Angola, H.E. Joao Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, the content of which was not revealed. Also on the same day, the Angolan diplomat was received by the country’s Foreign Minister, Moosa Zameer, with whom he discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of tourism and fisheries. However, before the accreditation ceremony, Ambassador Clemente Camenha had presented the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chief of Protocol, Dr Mohamed Shabudy, with the respective Charters.

Angola and the Maldives established diplomatic relations in November 2020, in New York, United States of America. The Republic of Maldives is a small island state located in the Indian Ocean, southwest of Sri Lanka and India, in South Asia, made up of 1,196 islands, of which 203 are inhabited, located about 450 kilometres south of the Decan peninsula. One of the largest tourist destinations in the world, receiving more than a million tourists a year, the Maldives has around 544,700 inhabitants.
